Decorating to Inspire

Have you ever wondered how you can inspire yourself or someone else every day with something other than the words you speak? I use to until I came across a beautiful home décor piece that just spoke to me. It was a vinyl saying from Simply Said that had my life verse. I purchased it and adhered it to a rustic metal accessory piece. That home décor piece still hangs in my living room almost five years later: "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future."  As you can see by the photo, I have created an inspirational area in my living room around that original home décor piece. Every day I look at this and it inspires me.

That home décor piece showed me that we need inspiration all around us. We need inspiration on our good days and we most definitely need inspiration on our bad days. Some of us need that inspiration through humor, some through sayings of faith, some through encouraging messages, and the list goes on.

Over the past few years, I have added more inspiration into my home using home décor and every day I see it, it reminds me how far I've come in my journey to bettering myself, my life, and the life of my son.

Now, I want you to think of one space in your home. It doesn't have to be a big space, just a space that you'd like to see transformed a bit. What is something that you could put in that space that would be inspiring to you? Is it a small saying, candle with a photo near by, something to remember someone of the past, something that encourages you to keep going, or something that reminds you of an adventure? Whatever it may be, take the first step to making that space an inspirational area for you. Start out with one item and then begin adding more to that space a little at a time until one day you look at it and you feel the inspiration just radiating from that space.

I would love to see your transformed spaces. You can email me your before and after photos or you can tag us on social media (Instagram and Facebook) or use #saltoflifeboutique. Happy decorating!
